We are targeting four shows:
Saturday, November 10,

Sunday, November 11,

Friday, November 16,

Saturday, November 17,

Animals in the circus are not trained.  They are tortured into performing.  Animals do not naturally ride bicycles, stand on their heads, balance on balls, or jump through rings of fire. To force them to perform these confusing and physically uncomfortable tricks, trainers use whips, tight collars, muzzles, electric prods, bullhooks, and other painful tools of the trade.  Educate the public about intelligent, social animals who are deprived of all their natural behaviors and companions and forced to perform silly tricks for humans.

August 1-12 Various 2007 CIRCUS DEMONSTRATION
& EDUCATIONAL LEAFLETING

What:   Vegetarian Network of Dallas has organized a peaceful circus demonstration and educational leafleting.   We will hold signs and distribute informational leaflets to circus-goers and passersby.

Where: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus,
American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory Ave, Dallas, Texas

Why:   To exposecircuses as public exhibitions of animal cruelty.

Behind the scenes, elephant trainer Tim Frisco instructs would-be trainers how to dominate elephants and make them perform circus tricks. “Sink that hook into ’em. When you hear that screaming, then you know you got their attention.” An elephant trumpets in agony as Frisco’s bull hook, with its sharp metal hook and spiked end, tears through her sensitive skin.

When: August 1 - August 12  (we will demonstrate/leaflet on these dates and times in Dallas at the AA Center, where the circus is being held)
